After completing my school studies, I started on the dual study program at MB Energy - not really knowing what I was getting into honestly. After three very exciting years experiencing many departments (from Finance to Sales to Trading and Logistics) I joined the strategy project management team and the rest is history...

When did you feel most proud to work for MB Energy?

The trust placed in young people to work on truly important topics and create real change for the better makes me feel immense pride.

Wibke Sist
Head of Marketing & Product

After a Master's in Business Law, I became interested in how strategy, technology, and people come together in practice, which eventually led me to move into my first leadership role in IT. I learned about MB Energy through a friend, whose positive experience sparked my interest. I’ve been here since 2024, and here I’m able to combine my analytical background with hands-on leadership and a strong focus on collaboration.

How has working at MB Energy changed the way you think or work?

I've become more relaxed and confident in the way I approach my work. That doesn’t mean I work with less passion—quite the opposite—but I’ve learned to trust myself and my judgment more, especially in complex or uncertain situations.

Lisa Marie Lässig
Head of IT Projects, Architecture & IT Apps Enabling Functions

In 2015, I started my dual study program at MB Energy. I wanted to go into sales and liked the idea of working in a family business, so it was a perfect fit. I first learned about MB Energy at a career fair in Hamburg; what caught my attention was the global footprint and its many subsidiaries operating in niche areas along the energy supply chain.

What has surprised you most about working here?

Despite its size, the company has a flat hierarchy with strong cross-team communication and quick decisions. This allows early responsibility, rapid learning, and the freedom to drive new ideas within an entrepreneurial culture focused on the energy transition.

Malte Boettcher
Lead German Biofuels

I live in the Netherlands with my partner Jan and our unofficial 'company dog' Bella! I’ve spent 25 years in the energy sector. Since joining MB Energy in 2024, I’ve enjoyed connecting with colleagues across the organization and am now transitioning into a Business Operations Partner role while remaining closely involved with HR and cross-team collaboration.

What’s the biggest misconception candidates usually have before joining?

A common misconception is that our industry focuses only on traditional fossil fuels. In reality, we offer everything from conventional products to lower-emission energy sources and  support our customers by developing and providing future-oriented solutions.

Angelique De Gast
Business Operations Partner

I began an apprenticeship as a storage logistics specialist at enport GmbH & Co. KG in 2009, inspired by family members working in tank storage. After an internship at the Blumensand terminal, and a conscious decision to not go to university, I chose the energy sector, learning the business from the ground up. My entire career has been spent within the MB Energy family, closely connected to our tank terminals.

What actually happens when something goes wrong?

Of course, I’ve made mistakes over the years. At MB Energy, the focus is first on understanding 'how' and 'why' something went wrong, not who is to blame. I learned this solution-oriented approach as an apprentice and apply it today in leading my team, to learn from mistakes and prevent them fromm happening again.

Sebastian Kossyk
Terminal Manager Waltershof

I graduated with a degree in Politics and started with a year in banking. My MB Energy journey began as maternity cover to support the Aviation logistics function. At the end of that period, I was offered a permanent position and have been here since! The ever-changing aviation landscape has kept the work varied and interesting.

How has working here changed the way you think or work?

Working at MB Energy has changed the way I perceive challenges and obstacles. You’re encouraged to share your thoughts and contributions, and that opinion is valued and appreciated, thus the sense of achievement is shared throughout the team.

FAQ

Any questions?

You’ll find quick answers in our FAQs.

Do I need prior experience in the energy or commodities industry to apply?

Whilst some positions require industry-specific experience (e.g. traders), there are also roles where this isn't necessary. Each job posting will make it clear either way.

How do I prepare for an interview at MB Energy?

Do some research beforehand, prepare some thoughtful questions, know your own story (i.e. what's on your CV), and prepare clear examples of your experience. Be honest about strengths and gaps, and focus on having a genuine conversation over giving 'textbook' answers.

What makes someone successful at MB Energy?

It is less important to already have the perfect skill set or extensive experience, and more about motivation and diligence. If you can identify with your tasks and are open-minded enough to connect different ideas, you will thrive.

How does MB Energy support professional development and learning on the job?

We make continuous improvement part of who we are. You will have access to hands‑on learning through initiatives such as job shadowing, an expanding e‑learning catalogue and practical workshops that build real skills. We encourage you to shape your own development path through regular career conversations (part of our performance management process) and opportunities to join cross‑functional projects. Our aim is to give you the environment, tools, and support to accelerate your development.

Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful?

Yes, we aim to respond to all applicants regardless of whether we invite them to an interview or not.

What are your policies on remote, hybrid, or flexible work?

It's position-specific, but broadly we want to focus on a work setup that gets the best out of you. We value time in the office collaborating and also recognise the benefits of being able to work from home. We're always happy to discuss the 'perfect' setup for you as we go through the interview process.

Are your positions open to international applicants/visa holders?

Yes, we're able to provide visa sponsorship/support relocation for certain positions. Please check individual job postings to confirm.

How is my data used?
