Bioenergy

Bioenergy is energy from biomass and includes heat, electricity and fuels. It is a renewable energy source and is obtained from renewable raw materials and organic residues.

Background / Origin

The basis of bioenergy is solar energy, which is absorbed by plants through photosynthesis and stored in the form of chemical energy. This stored energy is released again when biomass is used.
