Ethanol is an organic alcohol that is found in alcoholic beverages and is also used as a fuel and in industry.

2. How is ethanol produced?

Ethanol is produced both by alcoholic fermentation of biomass and synthetically from ethene and water.

3. What applications does ethanol have?

Ethanol is used as a fuel, solvent, cleaning agent and disinfectant as well as a fuel component in gasoline mixtures.

4. What is E10?

E10 is a gasoline mixture consisting of 10 % ethanol and 90 % gasoline by volume.

5. What is the calorific value of ethanol?

The calorific value of ethanol is approx. 7.4 kWh/kg and approx. 5.9 kWh/l.
