Vegetable oil is obtained from oilseeds by mechanical pressing or chemical extraction. In cold pressing, the temperatures are limited to a maximum of 40°C.
2 What quality requirements apply to rapeseed oil?
The quality requirements for rapeseed oil have been set out in DIN 51605 since 2012. This includes limit values for undesirable substances that must be complied with through post-treatment.
3. can vegetable oil be used in modern engines?
As a rule, pure vegetable oil can only be used in older pre-chamber diesel engines without conversion. Most modern engines require an adaptation.
4 What are the advantages of vegetable oils over biodiesel?
Vegetable oils can be used directly without transesterification processes, which makes them cheaper to produce than biodiesel.
5 What should I bear in mind when using vegetable oil in winter?
In winter, at least 10% diesel by volume must be added to the vegetable oil to ensure fluidity.
