What is bottled gas?

Cylinder gas is a liquefied gas - usually propane or a propane-butane mixture - that is stored under pressure in gas cylinders. It belongs to the group of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) and is transported and stored in standardized steel containers.

Liquefaction reduces the volume considerably. This enables compact storage and easy transportation. When removed from the cylinder, the gas returns to its gaseous state and can be used directly.

Bottled gas is used wherever there is no fixed gas supply or flexibility is required. Typical applications range from domestic cooking and heating solutions to commercial applications.

A key advantage is that the energy is immediately available - without the need for a connection to a pipeline network or complex infrastructure.
