What is HVO100?

HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a paraffinic diesel fuel that is produced from biogenic residues and waste materials. These include used cooking oils, animal fats and vegetable oils.

In contrast to conventional biodiesel (FAME), HVO is based on a hydrogenation production process. The result is a chemically stable, pure fuel with diesel-like properties - but without the typical disadvantages of FAME such as ageing instability or limited suitability for use at low temperatures.

HVO100 is designed as a so-called "drop-in fuel". This means that the fuel can be used directly in existing diesel engines - without technical modifications, without changes to the logistics and without interrupting operation.

This gives companies a clear advantage: emissions reduction can be implemented immediately, without having to invest in new vehicles or infrastructure.
